According to TIA General Manager Jagannath Niraula, this morning, a Turkish Airlines flight was diverted to Lucknow, India, similarly, an Air India flight was diverted to Varanasi, India as they failed to land at the TIA due to heavy rainfall.

The TIA has stated that some scheduled flights have been delayed. Once the rain stopped and visibility improved, flights from the airport resumed regular operation, Niraula said. Although there were some delays in domestic flights, regular flights are now operating to their destinations.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the country is currently under the influence of monsoon winds.

The monsoon is expected to be active today and tomorrow, with a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall. In particular, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall at one or two places in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim provinces
