Five sent to jail for misusing red passports

KATHMANDU, Aug 24: The Special Court on Wednesday sent five persons accused of misusing red passports to Dillibazaar jail after they failed to deposit bail amounts as sought by the court.



The Special Court bench led by Chairman Gauri Bahadur Karki had sought bail amounts of Rs 1.4 million from Prithivi Chhantyal, Rs 2.5 million each from Gopal Baniya, Dil Bahadur Gharti and Manoj Kumar Karki, and Rs 35,000 from Devendra Paudel.



The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed a case against the five accusing them of misusing red passports issued in the name of suspended lawmakers BP Yadav and Gayatri Sah.



Yadav and Sah have also been facing charges of selling their red passports.
