The convention, which began on May 3, had moved toward elections after consensus efforts failed. Bhola Yadav and Laxminarayan Yadav are vying for the position of district chairperson.
Nominations were filed on Monday night, but disputes emerged following discrepancies in the final candidate list.
Other candidates include Jayaprakash Sunrait Yadav and Tejnarayan Yadav for vice-chair, Dip Narayan Thakur and Dhirendra Kumar Mandal for secretary, and Bikram Thapa, Suresh Thakur, and Hari Kishor Yadav for deputy secretary. For the women’s deputy secretary post, Kiran Kapar, Ruka Kumari Mishra, and Sarada Ghising have filed their candidacies.
The district convention is set to elect five office bearers and a 135-member district committee.
Voting was scheduled to begin at 8:30 AM today. However, the dispute over the final candidate list has delayed the voting process. While Bhola Yadav’s faction has demanded immediate commencement of voting, Laxminarayan Yadav’s supporters are opposing it.
