Former prime ministers -- Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Baburam Bhattarai of UCPN (Maoist), Sher Bahadur Deuba of Nepali Congress, and Jhala Nath Khanal and Madhav Kumar Nepal of CPN (UML) -- signed the declaration entitled ´The Roadmap of Economic Revolution: Vision 2023´ with ten-year targets, at an interaction organized by Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI).[break]
They expressed their commitment to put economic agenda above party interest, forge consensus on economic issues among political parties, maintain conducive labor relations, take initiative to end the deficit of power in the country and protect rights to possess private property.
Similarly, they pledged to create an investment friendly environment, develop Birgunj as the industrial capital transferring it into ‘Greater Birgunj’.
Speaking on the occasion, the former prime ministers acknowledged that Nepal needed political stability for economic development. They also underlined the need for development of tourism, hydro-power and agriculture to accelerate economic development of Nepal.
