Kathmandu, Feb 23: Docskool is publishing a film journal entitled CINE–ENTHUSE which will be published as a biannual film and art journal starting this March.

On this occasion, the organizers are calling all filmmakers, film critics, film aspirants and all kinds of cinema enthusiasts to help publish this journal by contributing any forms of articles that they deem can promote cinema in the region.

“There is no trend of making a free established academic film journal in Nepal and so we came up with this idea in order to meet the criteria and start the trend of making an international standard journal and to provide more information on cinema,” says AbhiManyu Dixit, Communication Officer of Docskool.

He further said that the film journal will be more like a cinema and art journal and will include director’s notes where the director’s filmmaking style will also be incorporated.[break]

It will also include reviews and details of English, Nepali, Hindi movies with more focus on movies of the South Asian region and photo essays.

“We see that in most of the film reviews in newspapers and magazines, it is just limited to what the film is like and how the actors played their parts. It does not include the film structure and forms and other technical aspects; so this journal aims in including film reviews with full details,” said Dixit.

He further said that the journal will be published as a biannual film and art journal starting this March. “Being Nepal’s first film journal, our main idea is to promote the possibilities that cinema has in the South Asian region and beyond,” he said.

The international collaborators of the film journal are Sri Lankan and Indian directors.

“We’re getting a lot of positive response, and even the Andrzej Wajda Master School of Filmmaking of Poland is showing interest in this,” he said.

Docskool is an open network of professional and aspiring filmmakers working in Nepal to promote cinema as an accessible, socially inclusive art form.

Active since 2008, Docskool operates as a network of over 1,500 such filmmakers in Nepal and South Asia with film promotion bases located across three locations in Nepal.

The articles that one submits may be formatted as Film Content Analysis, Film Reviews, Directorial Notes, Film Criticism, Pictorial Essays, or Art Criticism.

The criteria for the articles are minimum 2,000 words and maximum 5,000 words. Citation is also required for all referred writings/AV materials, and plagiarism will not be permitted.

Submission to the journal for sometime is based on contributions. No financial returns may be provided. Dateline for article submission is March 6.
