KATHMANDU, July 15: Pitambar Timilsina filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court on Thursday demanding his reinstatement as the vice-president of National Sports Council (NSC).

Timsina was expelled from the post by Youth and Sports Minister Ganesh Tiwari Nepali, who is also the president of NSC, for vandalizing the office of NSC Member-secretary Hari Babu Chaudhary and manhandling him last Friday. [break]

Although expelled from the post of vice-president, Timilsina is still a member of NSC.

A delegation led by Timilsina, including NSC member Kishor Rai, resorted to vandalism at Chaudhary´s office over the issue of construction of eastern regional stadium. They have been insisting that the stadium be built in Dharan though the government had earlier decided to construct the stadium in Itahari.

According to Chaudhary, the delegation attacked him and NSC member Samim Miyan Ansari under the instruction of Rai.

“I came to the court as I am not satisfied with the decision of the minister,” Timilsina said, adding, “I didn´t get an opportunity to clarify myself before being expelled.”

Timilsina told myrepublica.com that a hearing will be held over the writ on Friday.
