KATHMANDU, Dec 21: Bibeksheel Sajha Party (BSP) has expelled the party's coordinator Milan Pandey from the party.
A Central Committee meeting of the party held on Tuesday decided to expel Pandey from the party, scrapping even his general membership.
"It is hereby informed to you not to use the name of the party, letterhead, stamp, election symbol and other materials related to the party you are using effective from today and you will be subject to legal action as per the existing laws if found using the same," reads a letter sent to Pandey on Tuesday.
Bibeksheel Sajha dedication for public services: Milan Pandey
BSP Chairman Rabindra Mishra and Coordinator Pandey were at odds over the political line to be taken by the party. Pandey had protested the proposal floated by Mishra to scrap federalism and conduct a referendum on secularism.
Amid growing dispute between Mishra and Pandey, the Mishra-led faction of the BSP virtually organized the party's Central Committee meeting and amended the party's statute to make the party Chairman powerful, stripping the rights and authorities of coordinator.
The Pandey-led faction was in a difficult position after the decisions taken by the Mishra-led faction was recognized by the Election Commission. The Pandey-led faction had then run parallel activities in the name of BSP.
Earlier on December 14, the BSP led by Mishra had sought written clarification from Pandey alleging that he was involved in activities that were against the interest of the party. Although he submitted the clarification a day later than the deadline on Monday, the Mishra-led BSP had concluded that his clarification was not satisfactory.
The BSP has maintained that the party had taken action against Pandey as he was involved in spreading propaganda and false information against the party and involved in parallel activities in the name of the party.
