Speaking at a seminar organized in the capital on Monday, women right activists said that this day should be marked as a national day for women´s liberation.
On the occasion, Chairman of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Kedarnath Upadhyay said that the Rana ruler took an exemplary decision by ending Sati Pratha and Das Pratha.
Chairman Upadhyay said that school level education should also focus on ending violence against women.
Awareness programmes should be launched for women´s empowerment, stakeholders said.
Dr. Pancha Kumari Manandhar, Chairwoman of Justice for All Sharmila Shrestha, Chairwoman of Disabled Women Federation Saradha Lamichhane, among others shared their views at the programme.
