Election office withdraws mayoral candidacy of NC in Bharatpur

KATHMANDU, May 4: Referring to the letter from the party President Sher Bahadur Deuba as the official one, the District Election Office, Chitwan has withdrawn the nomination of Dinesh Koirala as the mayoral candidate of Bharatpur Metropolitan City from the Nepali Congress (NC).

KATHMANDU, May 4: Referring to the letter from the party President Sher Bahadur Deuba as the official one, the District Election Office, Chitwan has withdrawn the nomination of Dinesh Koirala as the mayoral candidate of Bharatpur Metropolitan City from the Nepali Congress (NC).



Issuing a press statement on Thursday afternoon, the election office informed that the candidacy of Koirala for mayor and Surendra Gurung of CPN (Maoist Center) for deputy mayor has been withdrawn.

At a time when the election office issued the notice, the candidates were busy in their election campaign.


Earlier, local leaders of the NC had said they will contest the local level elections alone citing that Bharatpur is the stronghold of Nepali Congress. NC leaders in Chitwan district had made it clear that the news that the heavyweights of the two parties are considering forging electoral alliance is a rumor.
