KATHMANDU, Sept 28: Different organizations and companies were felicitated for their contribution to the tourism sector, at an event organized in the capital on Friday on the occasion of the 40th World Tourism Day.
The government has felicitated Qatar Airways for its contribution in bringing in the highest number of tourists into the country. It had catered to 399,336 tourists travelling to Nepal through its air service throughout the year. Flight Connection Domestic Pvt Ltd, a travel agency, was awarded for making the highest foreign currency earnings in the country, to the value of US$ 9.45 million.

Kalinchowk Darshan Ltd was recognized for developing a tourism destination in Dolakha by constructing cable car up to Kalinchowk Bhagwati Temple of Dolakha. The private company was well taken for its contribution in the management of accommodation for visitors.
Similarly, Soaltee Hotel was honored for creating 405 jobs and being the largest employment creator in the tourism sector of Nepal. The Bakery Café was also honored for enabling differently-abled persons and providing them employment.
Fishtail Lodge Pokhara was also felicitated on the occasion for donating most of its earning to heart-specialty hospitals and other related organizations through its corporate social responsibility initiative. Likewise, Buddha Air has been felicitated for paying the most taxes to the government of Nepal. The airlines company paid a total of Rs 586.75 million tax to the government in the last fiscal year, FY2018/19.
Likewise, from the community home-stay category, Namjethumki Community Homestay based in Dhankuta was felicitated for its exemplary contribution to domestic tourism. Seven Summit Treks Pvt Ltd was felicitated for catering 25 mountaineering teams including 263 mountaineers. It is the highest number amongst companies providing trekking service. The company had
collected US$ 930,190 in foreign currency.
A total of eight organizations were felicitated on the occasion by Dhan Bahadur Budha, state minister for Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation. The World Tourism Day was observed worldwide Friday with the theme 'Tourism and Jobs: A Better Future for All' in line with the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO)'s focus on skills, education, and jobs.
