KATHMANDU, July 14: At least eight people have been killed in the Kathmandu Valley as heavy rainfall that started from Thursday wreaked havoc till late Friday in several areas of the capital.
Nepal Police on Saturday informed Republica that several deaths occurred in various places of Kathmandu and Lalitpur districts, while around a dozen were injured. A total of 133 people were rescued from the flood-hit areas of the two cities.
Two days of continuous rainfall has displaced hundreds of families in the capital, especially the households residing in areas close to rivers.
As of Saturday afternoon, the floods across the country have claimed at least 31 lives and injured scores of others.
Weather forecasting division has predicted rainfall to last for a few more days.
