KATHMANDU, May 13: The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology on Wednesday directed all educational institutions to provide two days of holiday a week as per the decision of the Council of Ministers on April 26.
At the ministry on Wednesday, Education Minister Devendra Poudel made a ministerial decision and decided the two days holidays on Saturday and Sunday be applicable to all private and community educational institutions across the country.

The Center for Education and Human Resource Development on Wednesday issued instructions to all education development and coordination units to implement the ministerial level decision. According to the center's director Ram Chandra Sharma, the four-point directive issued by the center states that leave should be given on Saturday and Sunday with effect from May 15. Regarding the school management under the same directive, the school has to conduct classes in the classrooms from 10AM to 4PM as usual.
Similarly, holidays will be cut from summer, winter and other annual vacations to conduct smooth running of academic sessions without reducing the reading hours as provided by the National Curriculum Draft 2076 BS.
