KATHMANDU, April 20: Ignoring his own fragile health condition, Dr Govinda KC, a senior professor at the Institute of Medicine (IoM) on Monday left for Jajarkot district, which has been gripped by influenza virus.
Twenty-three people have died and hundreds of others have been infected with the virus that broke out in remote VDCs of the district three weeks ago.
Dr KC, who had been recuperating from his 12 days hunger strike had planned to visit the district earlier but his physicians, prohibited him on grounds of his fragile health. "They suggested I don't go to Jajarkot as my own immune system was weaker," Dr KC told to Republica.
Dr KC has previously traveled to the Philippines, Haiti, Pakistan, India and other countries to respond to natural disasters.
