KATHMANDU, June 2: A Nepali doctor Soniya Dulal has received the 'ASCO Global Oncology Young Investigator Award (ASCO GOYIA) 2023' worth $ 50,000.
Dr Dulal received the award for her research titled 'Clinical and molecular characterization of breast cancer among different ethnic groups in Nepal'.
The award is presented by the American Society of Clinical Oncology, Conquer Cancer Foundation.

Dr Dulal is also the first Nepalese medical oncologist to receive the Conquer Cancer Foundation, ASCO merit Award for best abstract.
Dulal said that she is happy to be able to conduct such research among Nepalese women with breast cancer for the first time in Nepal with collaboration with Princess Margaret Cancer Center Toronto, Canada and to represent Nepal in a Global platform.
Soniya Dulal is the DM Medical Oncologist who has graduated from NAMS, Bir Hospital which has collaboration with American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and Health Volunteers Overseas (HVO), USA.
She is also the first to receive UICC Technical Fellowship Award 2019 as Nepalese Medical Oncology fellow on Project Entitled – “Multidisciplinary Management of advanced/ Incurable Lung Cancer” at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Toronto, Canada. She is a Life Member of the Association of UICC Fellows.
She has presented her research paper as poster/ E-poster presentation in different international conferences (ASCO 2018, Chicago; ACOG Symposium 2018, Canada; IASLC 2019 World Conference on Lung Cancer, Barcelona, Spain) and participated in ESMO meetings, Singapore.
