DoTM to provide Taxi numbers to quake victims on March 8

KATHMANDU, Feb 26: The Government has decided to provide 1500 taxi registration numbers to quake victims of 14 districts on March 8 through lottery.

KATHMANDU, Feb 26: The Government has decided to provide 1500 taxi registration numbers to quake victims of 14 districts on March 8 through lottery.


The Department of Transport Management (DoTM) finalized the date of the distribution after the quake victims demonstrated for the delay in distribution.


Taxi would be distributed through lottery in the presence of media personnel, representatives of consumer organizations, applicants and public, said spokesperson of the department Tokraj Pandey.

Earlier, the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport had decided to register and distribute taxi to quake victims of 14 districts on June 10.


49,558 quake victims applied for the registration of the taxi when the department opened applications from July 20 to August 21.


Quake victims from Sindhupalchowk, Dolakha, Ramechhhap, Okhaldhunga, Sindhuli, Kavrepalanchowk, Makawanpur, Gorkha, Dhading, Rasuwa, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur have filed applications for the registration of the taxi. 


According to Pandey, applicants are asked to verify their registration from District Administration Office, District Police Office and Municipalities.


Department said that the applicants can correct their application forms if they have made any mistake and asked to complete the correction within seven days starting from March 1.


Department has requested applicants to contact respective office with identity card of quake victim, photocopy of citizenship and other necessary documents.
