‘Don't padlock the university as soon as a problem arises’

KATHMANDU, July 26: Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Devendra Paudel has held discussions with the officials of the teachers' union. Minister Paudel discussed with the officials of the teachers' association about the padlocking of the university and the delay in the appointment of the dean of the open university.

KATHMANDU, July 26: Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Devendra Paudel has held discussions with the officials of the teachers' union. Minister Paudel discussed with the officials of the teachers' association about the padlocking of the university and the delay in the appointment of the dean of the open university.


In the discussion held at Singha Durbar on Tuesday, Minister Paudel said that the role of professors is important for reforms in the university, and requested all not to padlock the university. "Professors are the family of the university," Minister Paudel said, "Problems do arise, it is not good to padlock the university whenever a problem arises. Let's solve them through talks."

The officials of the teachers' union asked for suggestions regarding the delay in the appointment of the dean of the open university. "I am of the opinion that qualified people should be appointed rather than on the basis of political faith," Minister Paudel said, "The law talks about making the appointment through consensus or through competition."
