KATHMANDU, July 15: People have been receiving incoming calls from unknown international numbers since Saturday. There have been various tweets and posts regarding it on social media.
“Often times, people from countries that have higher tariffs for international call dial random numbers to earn money,” Prativa Vaidya, spokesperson of state owned Nepal Telecom said. “When somebody redials the number, the phone number is tracked and the calling cost gets transferred into their account. Hence, we advise everyone neither to receive or redial the number.”
Vaidya said that they’ve been urging people not to redial the numbers and that they had blocked the codes for such incoming calls.
