Dikshya, Upen win TT gold

KATHMANDU, Sept 4: Dikshya Tamang of Adarsha Vidya Mandir (AVM) and Upen Parajuli of Galaxy claimed gold medals in the 10th Hareram Joshi Memorial Open Table Tennis Tournament that kicked off in the capital on Friday.



Dikshya overcome Soun Thapa Magar of Capital College and Research Center (CCRC) 11-6, 11-5, 11-9 in the final of women's singles event.

Latasa Maharjan of AVM and Anuska Prasain of Gyan Mandir finished joint third. Upen edged past Sanjog Kapali of AVM 11-4, 11-8, 11-9 in boys' U-12 final.


Madan Tamang of Prisma and Bishwap Madhukarmi of Everest both settled for bronze . In the girls' singles event, Anju Suwal of Pravat and Durga Rajbhandari of Bijeshwari secured places in the final.


Similarly, Syantu Shrestha of Prime and Ritij Joshi of AVM secured place in the final of boys' U-16 singles. Syantu beat Sudhakar Khatir of AVM and Ritij saw off Bijay Tamang of the same school in the semifinals.


Men's singles and veteran's matches of the two-day event will be played on Saturday.
