Diarrhea toll reaches five in Nepalgunj

DOTI, July 31: The toll of diarrhea in Nepalgunj has reached five with another death on Saturday while the number of patients crossed 500.



Ram Milan Yadav, 60, of Belabhar-4 succumbed to the disease Saturday while Bheri Zonal Hospital (BZH) and Nepalgunj Medical College (NGMC) remain overcrowded on the fourth day of the outbreak with 150 patients admitted freshly. [break]



BZH, which boasts of a total of 150 beds, has admitted 250 patients while NGMC has over 200 on its share. Thirty-five patients have currently been receiving treatment in United Hospital.



The District Public Health Office (DPHO) has started distribution of chlorine, jeevan jal and aqua tablet to patients in diarrhea-affected areas.



Meanwhile, a woman has died of diarrhea in Doti on Friday night, according to our Doti correspondent Pushpa Raj Joshi.



Basu Devi Bhul, 55, of Khirsen-8 died of diarrhea while more than a dozen have fallen ill, according to the District Public Health Office.



Acting chief at the office Kishor Shrestha said a team of health workers has already reached the area.
