KATHMANDU, July 17: Mayor of Dharan Sub Metropolitan City Tara Subba has passed away in the capital on Tuesday.

Kidney patient Subba, 52, who was undergoing treatment for kidney ailment at Tokha-based Grande Hospital for the last two weeks, succumbed to the ailment at 1 pm, according to his family sources.

Subba, originally from Dharan Sub Metropolitan City-17, had undergone kidney transplantation five years ago.

Subba had been elected to the Mayor of Dharan Sub Metropolitan City in the second phase of local elections held in December 7, 2017, representing the then CPN-UML.

Subba is survived by his wife and a son.
