KATHMANDU, August 19: Harka Sampang Rai, the mayor of Dharan Sub-metropolitan City, has said that there is no garbage on the streets of Dharan. He said that the news on social media that Dharan, too, has waste management problems, is false.

He said that by showing the garbage at the landfill site of Dharan, the misinformation was conveyed. Speaking live on Facebook on Friday, he said that the news that Itahari smelled bad was also false.
Mayor Rai said that if someone throws garbage on the road in Dharan, they are fined. “There is no garbage in Dharan and even if I find it on a street, I will have it picked up in five minutes”, he said.
