KATHMANDU, Oct 10: Large number of devotees can be seen at the goddess shrines throughout the country today offering worship and paying homage to the deity on the occasion of Phulpati, the seventh day of the 10-day Bada Dashain festival.


There is a religious belief that one's wishes are fulfilled by worshiping and praying to goddess Nawadurga at the goddess shrines especially during the Navratri. Navratri is the nine nights of the 10-day Bada Dashain, the biggest festival of the Nepalis.

A large number of devotees could be seen at the Guhyeshwori, Bhubaneshwari, Vatsaleshwori and Jaya Bageshwari temples at the Pashupati area and at Maitidevi, Kalikasthan, Bhadrakali, Sankata, Shova Bhagawati, Bijweshwari, Kankeshwari, Raktakali, Shwetkali, Dakshinkali, Naxal Bhagawati, Chamundamai, Sundarimai, Indrayani, Bandevi, Bajrayogini, among other goddess shrines in the Kathmandu Valley from early morning today.


Similarly, a large number of devotees also visited the Nala Bhagawati, Chandeshwari, Palanchowk, Palchowk Bhagawati, Kamalamai, Rautamai, Kalinchowk, Pathibhara, Gahawa Mai, Manakamana, Ichchhakamana, Dantakali, Rajdevi, Chhinnamasta, Gadhimai, Shaileshwari, Bindhyabasini, Bhuwaneshwari, Barahi, Baglung Kalika, Supa Deurali, Bageshwari and Ugratara temples in other districts outside the Kathmandu Valley to pay homage to the goddess.  


The goddess is invoked and worshiped as Kalaratri at Dashain Ghar and special worship altars today on the seventh day of the Navaratri.
