KATHMANDU, Jan 1: A demonstration was held demanding that the two youths who died in police firing in Balkumari last Friday be declared martyrs. On Monday, a demonstration was held in Lalitpur's Patan demanding that the two youths who died in the Balkumari incident should be declared martyrs.


The demonstrators took out a march demanding that the two youths be declared martyrs and the home minister resign, etc.

Last Friday, during the EPS language exam, the youths protested in Balkumari. The situation escalated when the police fired tear gas canisters to control the protestors. Subsequently, agitated youth vandalized a public vehicle and set fire to the vehicle of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister Prakash Jwala, causing tension in the Balkumari area. Two young men, Birendra Shah of Doti and Sujan Rawat of Dailekh were killed when the police used excessive force in Balkumari, Lalitpur.
