Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony on Friday, promoters of the resort said restaurant and banquet hall of the resort will come into operation by mid-November. It is expected to start full-fledged operation within a year.
“There is a great demand for comfortable accommodation in Bharatpur. We are hopeful that Bharatpur Garden Resort will address the demand to some extent,” Dilip Mainali, one of the promoters of the resort, said.
Mainali, who is in the hotel business for the last three decades, said business prospects was low when he ventured into the hospitality business. “The scenario is no longer the same. Today, the number of foreign and domestic tourists visiting Chitwan is increasing at an overwhelming rate,” he added.
Another promoter Keshav Devkota said the resort will provide quality venue for meeting and seminars. “Chitwan is among top three tourist destinations of the country. As the frequency of national and international meetings and seminars is increasing in the district, we realized the need for a deluxe resort with state of the art meeting venue,” added Devkota.
According to Chij Kumar Maskey, coordinator of the construction committee, the resort will have a banquet hall with the capacity of 200 people, a big garden that can accommodate up to 1,000 guests for parties and 40 rooms with 80 beds.
"We will spend Rs 110 million in the first phase,” Maskey said, adding, “We will add 40 rooms in the second phase with an investment of Rs 40 million.”
