KATHMANDU, July 27: Finalizing of the public submissions on the preliminary draft of the new constitution have been delayed, as compiling and summarizing tasks are yet to be completed.

As a result, the task of submitting a report on the same to the Constituent Assembly (CA) Chair by the Citizen Relations and Public Opinion Collection Committee has been delayed.

The Committee Chair Pramila Rana said the delay in submitting the committee report is because some suggestions are yet to be included in the compilation. She added that the committee has formed a five-member taskforce to complete the remaining task.

Most of the public feedback are related to direct election of the head of executive, religious freedom instead of secularism, qualification of lawmakers, equality between women and men and minimizing the number of provinces by assimilating hill, mountain and tarai belts. RSS
