KATHMANDU, Dec 26: Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Ishwar Pokharel on Thursday said that the government decided to extend the lease period of Gokarna Forest Resort to Yeti Holdings Private Limited for another 25 years as per the existing laws.

KATHMANDU, Dec 26: Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Ishwar Pokharel on Thursday said that the government decided to extend the lease period of Gokarna Forest Resort to Yeti Holdings Private Limited for another 25 years as per the existing laws.


Addressing a session of the National Assembly, Pokharel who is also the chairperson of Nepal Trust Board of Directors, said that the government has been utilizing the properties of Nepal Trust as per the prevailing laws relating to Nepal Trust.


“Under certain circumstances, the government extended the lease period of Gokarna Forest Resort in line with the laws for one more time. There is no anomaly in this process," he said.

He also urged the parliament members to pass their comments based on evidence.


"As per the agreement, the renter is ready to pay money for the next five and half years as per the market value in a transparent manner,"   he said.


He also informed that the property details registered in the name of Trust from Dhankuta in East to Surket in West will be made public soon. “Not only the details about Trust but also details on the agreement of Kathmandu Plaza, Teku Business Park and Land in Durbarmarg owned by the Trust will be made public soon,” added Pokhrel.
