Deepak wins junior soft-tennis bronze

KATHMANDU, Jan 19: Nepal clinched bronze medals in the men´s single and women´s doubles event in the First International Junior Soft-tennis Championship held in Yokaichchi city, Japan.



According to Nepal Soft-tennis Association, Deepak Pariyar secured the bronze medal in the men´s under 15 single event while the pair of Rabina Basnet and Kripa Sharma bagged bronze medal in the women´s under 18 doubles event.[break]



The Nepalese players bagged the bronze medal after they reached the semi-final in both events of the championship.



The Association also said Association secretary Bikas Pandey has received the International Official Umpire certificate from the Asian Soft-tennis Federation.



Twenty-two countries are participating in the championship. Twelve players from Nepal are vying in the different events under the championship.
