Nepal bags bronze medal in Int’l Astronomy Olympiad
Nepal has been participating in the prestigious global event for several years. According to NASO Chair Suresh Bhattarai, the country previously earned bronze medals in 2019 and 2023.
Participants for the international competition are selected through the National Astronomy Olympiad competition, an annual event organized since 2014. The national-level program aims to identify and nurture young scientific talent, with top performers chosen to represent Nepal internationally.
More than 3,000 students from across the nation have taken part in the National Astronomy Olympiad to date, many of whom are now pursuing higher studies in science at leading universities in Nepal and abroad. The competition is open to students from Grades 8 to 10—typically ages 13 to 20—from all seven provinces, with selection rounds held nationwide.
