KATHMANDU, Oct 7: The death toll from the recent floods and landslides triggered by heavy rainfall has reached 246 while 18 others are still missing as of October 4. A total of 178 people were injured in the disaster-induced incidents and 17,174 people were rescued by security forces.


The recent floods and landslides have resulted in the highest number of deaths in Bagmati province, with a total of 209 deaths. Out of which there are 70 people from three districts of Kathmandu Valley while 37 people were injured and seven people are still missing.

Similarly, 139 people died, 115 were injured and 13,694 people were rescued in the districts outside the valley of Bagmati province. Seven have not been found yet. 


There has also been significant damage in Koshi province. A total of 20 people have died in the province and four people are still missing in the disaster-induced incidents. Similarly, 14 people were injured and 290 people were rescued.


Police said that nine people lost their lives in the disaster-induced incidents in Madhesh province. Similarly, nine people were injured and 35 people were rescued.


Additionally, two people were killed and two others were injured in Lumbini province. Although there were no fatalities in Gandaki Province, there was damage to physical structures. In this province, 997 people were successfully rescued.


The western provinces of Karnali and Sudurpaschim were spared from this disaster. Although it rained for a few days, there were no floods in those regions.
