Dawadi elected Kathmandu Bar prez

KATHMANDU, March 10: Shreeram Dawadi of Independent Panel has been elected as President of Kathmandu Bar Unit (KBU) on Sunday. According to chief election officer Lilamani Paudyal, Dawadi secured 572 votes against 514 votes secured by his nearest rival Hari Prasad Paudyal of Democratic Lawyers´ Association (DLA). Candidate of Progressive Panel Yuvak Kumar Gautam secured only 76 votes.



The Independent Panel secured eight posts, including the president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer and four members.[break]



Jagadish Ghimire from the Independent Panel secured 531 votes against 508 votes secured by his nearest rival Ashmin Kumar Rai of the DLA of the post of vice-president. Pushpa Ram Paudyal of Independent Panel has been elected secretary with 614 votes. Sita Khanal of the Independent Panel has been elected treasurer with 664 votes.



Similarly, Shiv Prasad Regmi, Soni Raghubansha Shrestha, Sama Bahadur Bhatta, Jyotsana Upadhyaya and Binod Karki of DLA and Santosh Bhattarai, Anita Sharma, Sushil Raj Poudel and Basanti Shrestha of Independent Panel have been elected as members.
