Daily turnover declines to Rs 16.32 billion as NEPSE soars 21.76 points

KATHMANDU, July 21: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday soared 21.76 points to close at 2,892.72 points.



The secondary market opened at 2,870.96 points and plunged to the day’s low at 2,857.74 points in the first 11 minutes. For the next two hours, the index went through a series of fluctuations, while it remained almost stable for another one and a half hours. The market surged 12 points in the last 15 minutes before it closed for the day.

All the 13 trading groups were gainers. Non-life insurance posted the highest gain of 168.16 points, followed by microfinance with 103.10 points.


The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies inclined 4.46 points after the investors flocked to purchase shares of the heavy weight banks and financial institutions. The daily turnover however declined to Rs 16.32 billion from Rs 21.46 billion.  


Among the individual companies, 153 were gainers while 96 were recorded as the losers. Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 756.64 million.


Three Star Hydropower Limited with an addition of 9.99 percent was the topmost gainer. Green Development Bank and Saptakoshi Development Bank were in the top list of losers.
