“Every one was too scared to touch him (Kami),” said Adhikari. “The villagers are fearful that they may contract the disease if they attend to the patients.”
According to Adhikari, since hundreds of people are sick due to viral fever in Dailekh district, it is getting increasingly difficult for the patients to find help even from their family members.
Earlier, six people had died of viral fever -- five in Kalidanda VDC and one in Goganpani VDC of Dailekh district. As of now, all the seven people have died of viral fever as they were not taken to the health post.
“Never before have so many people fallen sick due to viral fever,” said Karunakar Khatri, in-charge of Badalamji Health Post. “We are providing medical treatment to around 70 patients every day.”
Meanwhile, according to Republica correspondent Dilip Poudel, one school has been closed down in Baglung district after dozens of students fell sick due to viral fever at once. Nava Jyoti Primary School in Burtibang was closed for an indefinite period from Wednesday.
