Death toll climbs to two in Dailekh mishap

DAILEKH, March 11: One more person has died in the road accident that occurred at Duikuna in Dailekh district on Thursday morning.  With this, the death toll in the accident has climbed to two.

DAILEKH, March 11: One more person has died in the road accident that occurred at Duikuna in Dailekh district on Thursday morning.  With this, the death toll in the accident has climbed to two.


A microbus (Karnali 02001 Kha 247) bound to Surkhet from Kalikot district skidded some 100 meters off the road at Aathbis Municipality-1 of the district.

According to the District Police Office, Dailekh, those killed in the accident have been identified as Jitendra Bahadur Shahi, 37, of Bharta, Shuvakalika Rural Municipality and Kamal BK, 21, of Naraharinath Rural Municipality in Kalikot district. 


Three police personnel were also injured in the mishap. The condition of police personnel Ramesh Chaudhari is said to be critical. 


As many as 11 injured of the total 21 passengers traveling in the ill-fated microbus were taken to Surkhet for treatment. Three other passengers receiving minor injuries in the accident are being treated at the local medical center. The condition of two of the injured undergoing treatment is reported to be serious. 


Preliminary police investigation has shown that overspeeding could be the main cause behind the accident.
