KATHMANDU, Feb 27: Rival faction chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Pushpa Kamal Dahal has courted a serious controversy after he said in a television interview that a power equation between their faction of the NCP, Nepali Congress and Janata Samajbadi Party would be 'comfortable' to India as well.
Political leaders as well as social media users blasted the remark that Dahal made during an interview with a Kathmandu-based television. Social media posts with #comfortable is going viral on twitter and facebook as ordinary people are criticizing Dahal for his alleged role in “destabilizing the country at India's behest”.

"What I see now is that the alliance between us, Nepali Congress and Janata Samajbadi Party is a comfortable equation for India as well. This is certainly going to be comfortable for China as well. We have this beautiful possibility now. I have asked the leaders [ of NC and JSP] to realize this possibility. I have reiterated this self-retrospection. I hold an opinion that this is in the best interests of all of us," he said in the interview with journalist Rishi Dhamala on Prime Television.
In addition to social media users, political leaders have also taken strong exception to the Dahal’s remarks. A leader close to the Oli-led faction of the NCP Shanta Chaudhary has accused Dahal of carrying out activities to hurt the sentiment and feeling of the Nepali people by destabilizing the government for over a year now.
"Chairman Prachanda has helped us to clarify some confusions that were with us regarding recognizing those playing foul games against the country's sovereignty and people's dignity," wrote Chaudhary. "The remarks that sought Indian interference in their movement a few days ago and the remarks now that they should form a government that India is comfortable with are objectionable."
