Students said they were forced to resume the strike since the policies on job and advance study have created an obstacle to their career.
“Though students complete three-year Certificate in Dental Science course spending around Rs. 500,000, there is no government job quota. They are also not allowed to enroll in Baclelor of Dental Science,” said Mikal Devkota, president of Nepal Dental Science Association.
On April 25 the Education Ministry and CTEVT had formed a high-level taskforce to prepare a report in this regard. “But the taskforce did nothing and enrollment of new students continued,” Devkota said.
The dental students have been demanding preparation of appropriate curriculum, formation of dental faculty and provision of government job quota for dental students, among other things.
“We have served a two-day ultimatum to CTEVT. If the academic body failed to implement the April 25 agreement, we will padlock Standard Determination Division, Curriculum Division and Examination Division of CTEVT for indefinite period,” he said.
They have also warned of halting entrance exam for new secession of Certificate in Dental Science scheduled for tomorrow and August 8.
