KATHMANDU, Oct 29: With the start of Tihar, the second biggest festival of Nepalis, the bustling shops of New Road in Kathmandu have come alive with festive spirit. On the eve of Tihar, the Dhanteras festival draws crowds eager to shop for auspicious items.


Dhanteras is celebrated on Kartik Krishna Trayodashi, marking the beginning of the five-day Tihar festivities. It is a tradition to purchase new utensils made of gold, silver, copper, and other materials, symbolizing wealth and prosperity. Shoppers flock to the vibrant markets, filling the streets with excitement as they prepare for the celebrations ahead.
