KATHMANDU, Oct 29: Nepal Rastra Bank’s (NRB) Mint Division at the Currency Management Department in Babarmahal saw large crowds as the public flocked to buy gold coins for Dhanteras. On this auspicious day, it is traditional to purchase metals, gold jewelry, and household utensils.
NRB to sell gold coins exclusively on Tuesday for Dhanteras
Lines formed as early as 6 AM, with many looking to buy gold coins for the upcoming Laxmi Puja during Tihar, when it’s customary to offer gold and silver coins in worship. The central bank is offering 2.5-gram gold coins, available for purchase until 4 PM on Tuesday, with a limit of one coin per person.
Additionally, the NRB opened the sale of silver coins on Sunday. The Mint Division is offering 10 and 25-gram silver coins, engraved with images of Laxmi, Ganesh, Gajalaxmi, and cows, to meet demand for festive offerings.
