KATHMANDU, May 30: Crash site of missing Tara Air aircraft has been located at Sanosware, Thasang-2, Mustang, according to Nepal Army. Wreckages of the missing aircraft were found scattered at a foothill located in the area.
Chief District Officer of Mustang Netra Prasad Sharma said the crash site was located with the help of the information given by locals who had reached the area to collect Yarshagumba (i.e. caterpillar fungus). The search and rescue team was not able to reach the suspected crash site on Sunday due to adverse weather conditions.
CDO Sharma said a search and rescue team comprising Nepal Police Inspector Raj Kumar Tamang, Nepal Army Lieutenant and Sherpas have already reached the crash site. "We are currently in the process of carrying out rescue operations. Helicopters are already in the standby position in the Kobang area," he said over the telephone.

CDO Sharma said that since bad weather conditions has made it difficult to airlift rescuers directly to the crash site they are airlifting them to the nearest possible areas. "We are working to rescue the victims in whatever condition they are now," he said.
Those who reached the incident site have reported that they were not able to find any survivors in the crash site. As the ill-fated aircraft is found not impacted by fire, victims can be easily identified, a highly-placed source told Republica.
The search and rescue operation for the aircraft that went missing on Sunday morning shortly after it took off from Pokhara airport for Jomsom was suspended in the evening.
NA on Sunday evening said all efforts of search and rescue were halted due to loss of daylight and adverse weather. The search resumed early this morning both from air and ground.
The Tara Air aircraft that left Pokhara Airport this morning carrying 19 passengers and three crew members has gone out of contact since this morning. According to the airline company, the passengers include 13 Nepali, four Indian and two German nationals.
