ILAM, Ashad 19: CPN-UML has won the mayoral post in Mai municipality of Illam district. Deepkumar Thebe scored 6077 votes. The immediate rival was Hemkumar Karki of Nepali Congress (NC) with 4500 votes.
The post for deputy-mayor also went to Bishnumaya Acharya of CPN-UML. She was elected for the post with 5816 votes. Chandramaya Limbu of NC finished second with 4686 votes.
