The agitating parties also obstructed vehicular movement in the area from 9 am to 11 am and demanded that the EC halt registration of parties. [break]
They have also demanded that the 11-point agreement that paved the way for formation of the current government and the 25-point proposal for amendment to the Interim Constitution be scrapped.
According to senior leader of CPN-Maoist Tilak Pariyar, the protest was symbolic and that the alliance would launch stringent protests if the EC and the government turn a deaf ear to their demands.
“The incumbent government and the four major parties have tried to bypass other parties instead of forging political consensus. This does not augur well for the country.”
EC on Tuesday began registration of parties for the fresh Constituent Assembly election. The alliance, which has been protesting formation of the chief justice-led government, has also demanded formation of a new government led by a political party.
