COVID-19 in Nepal: MoHP confirms 1,044 new cases  and 1,271 recoveries

KATHMANDU, Dec 11: The Health ministry on Friday confirmed 1,044 new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) through 7,414 real time PCR tests conducted at various labs across the country. 

Nepal has so far carried out 1,820,618 PCR tests and confirmed a total of 246,694 cases of the viral infection that spread worldwide from the Chinese province of Wuhan last year. 

Of all the cases confirmed since the first case detected on January 23, Nepal has reported 232,872 recoveries so far. This accounts for 94.4 percent of the total people tested positive for the virus. 

With 11 more deaths reported in the past 24 hours, as many as 1,674 COVID-19 patients have so far succumbed to the viral infection. Nepal reported the first death related to COVID-19 on May 16. 

Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley witnessed 561 new cases of the disease taking the total number of  cases in the country’s federal capital to 114,950.
