KATHMANDU, Dec 8: The Kathmandu District Court, benched by Judge Durga Khadka, has granted permission to remand medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai today for additional three days for further investigation.
On November 19, a team from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police arrested Prasai from his residence, charging him of cyber crime. An arrest warrant has been issued against Prasai in the CIB in response to the discovery of his connection to Hari Chandra Phuyal of Jhapa, who was arrested on charges of threatening entrepreneurs.
Court extends Durga Prasai’s judicial remand by four days
Currently, police are investigating him on charges of releasing some documents claiming that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has an investment of nearly Rs 32 billion in a telecom company in Cambodia.
On the day of his arrest, the Court remanded him to custody for three days, citing Section 47 of the Electronic Transactions Act.
Earlier on November 24, the court had granted permission to remand Prasai for five days. Similarly, on November 29, the court had extended Prasai’s judicial remand by five days, and, likewise, by four days on December 3.
