KATHMANDU, Aug 17: Commencing today, the rape case involving Sandeep Lamichhane, the former captain and cricketer of the Nepali National Cricket Team, is set to undergo consistent proceedings at the Kathmandu District Court.
Scheduled to take place before District Court Judge Rajukumar Khatiwada, Lamichhane's case has been accorded top priority among the cases on the docket. Previous attempts to convene hearings had encountered multiple delays. However, with today's listing at the forefront, there is a heightened anticipation for a seamless continuation of the proceedings.
Lamichhane stands accused of the rape of a minor identified as Gaushala 26 (pseudonym used by the police). Subsequent to a custody hearing related to the minor rape case, the Kathmandu District Court had remanded Lamichhane into custody for initial investigation. Nonetheless, the Patan High Court later ordered his release upon submission of Rs 2 million bail.
