Committee formed to ensure smooth travel, minimize road accidents

KATHMANDU, Sept 24: A six-member committee has been formed under the coordination of Spokesperson at Home Ministry Phanindra Mani Pokhrel to issue directives for smooth management of transport and prevention of road accidents in the wake of approaching festivals.

KATHMANDU, Sept 24: A six-member committee has been formed under the coordination of Spokesperson at Home Ministry Phanindra Mani Pokhrel to issue directives for smooth management of transport and prevention of road accidents in the wake of approaching festivals.


The committee was formed after the direction of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba in the meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Friday. PM Deuba directed the subordinates to arrange safe travel for passengers and minimize road accidents in view of the coming festival.

The committee comprises the members as Deputy Inspector General of Nepal Police, Mira Chaudhari; Director General of Transport Management Department, Dr Tokraj Pande; Director General at Road Department, Arjun Jung Thapa; Deputy Superintendent of Nepal Police at Traffic Police Directorate, Basanta Kunwar; and Chairperson of Transportation Entrepreneurs' National Federation, Bijay Bahadur Swar, according to the Home Ministry.


The committee will also study on how road accidents could be minimized and public transport made well managed.
