Coca-Cola inter-school national football from May 24

KATHMANDU, May 19: The fourth edition of the Coca-Cola Inter-School National Football Tournament is set to begin from May 24. Nepal´s football governing body ANFA and Coca-Cola producers Bottlers Nepal Pvt Ltd inked an MOU regarding the tournament on Tuesday at the ANFA complex, Satdobato, Lalitpur. ANFA president Ganesh Thapa and Bottlers Nepal managing director Soumindra Bhattacharya signed the MOU. [break]



The tournament will be played in two phases. In first phase, a selection tournament will be held in 6 regions; ANFA has anticipated that around 450 schools will take part in the regional selection tournament, which will be held in a knockout format. Four teams from Kathmandu, 3 teams from Biratnagar, 2 teams from Pokhara and one each from Butwal, Nepalgunj and Dhangadhi will qualify for the final round, which will be played in Kathmandu. These 12 teams will be divided into 4 groups, and the final round will be played in league-cum-knockout format.



One hundred ninety-eight school from Kathmandu, 72 schools from Biratnagar, 80 schools from Pokhara, 30 schools from Butwal and 20 schools from Nepalgunj have enrolled in the tournament so far. That number is expected to increase further.



ANFA has estimated that Rs 1.8 million will be spent on this tournament, of which Bottlers Nepal will sponsor Rs 1.5 million rupees, while ANFA will bear rest.
