KATHMANDU, Oct 4: Chief Commissioner of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, Nabin Kumar Ghimire has informed that the anti-graft body has started investigation into construction-related irregularities. He said those responsible for sub-standard construction work will face action.

Briefing the State Affairs Committee of the parliament on the activities of the CIAA, he informed that they are currently investigating the irregularities at Sikta Irrigation Project and other construction works.

“CIAA has sought all contract documents from various ministries. We will see if the construction works are up to the required standard,” said Ghimire.

CIAA Secretary Maheshwar Neupane informed that the anti-graft body has set up a lab to test the quality of construction work and plans to set up similar labs in eastern and western Nepal.

He further informed that the anti-graft body is also probing the land scam involving the Nepal Oil Corporation. He also informed that CIAA is flooded with corruption-related complaints at local units.
