CIAA files case against 13 people for corruption

KATHMANDU, July 12: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a case against thirteen individuals in the Special Court on charges of corruption.

The CIAA filed a case against Om Narayan Jha, senior branch officer of the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives of Madhesh Province, Janakpurdham.

According to CIAA Assistant Spokesperson Devi Prasad Thapalia, a case has been filed against Jha in the Special Court on charges of corruption while conducting income-generating training related to cooperatives in eight districts of the province. CIAA has demanded a fine of Rs 701,380 against Jha.

Besides, CIAA has also filed a case against Arhula Kumari, the proprietor of Naishi General Order Suppliers, who helped Jha in corruption. A case has been filed against Kumari seeking an amount of Rs 367,880 for preparing a fake bill.

Also, CIAA on Wednesday filed a case against 11 more people in the Special Court on the charge of corruption during the construction of seven kilometers of road from Hanuman Chowk to Simalbadi under the Laxmi Marga road section in the fiscal year 2074/75 BS.

CIAA has filed a case against the then chief administrative officer of the rural municipality, Chola Raj Dangal, engineer Abhishek Das and sub-engineer Bigyan Chamlagai, on the charge of overpayment of Rs 229,823, which is 23.40 percent more.

In another case, Jai Narayan Sah, chairman of Jhapa Rural Municipality, has been imprisoned and fined according to the law because he made a wrong recommendation to pay more than the actual amount to the consumer committee.
