KATHMANDU, Dec 11: Nepal Police has arrested a Chinese national in connection with two kilograms of gold recovered from Nagdhunga last Thursday.
The Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office arrested a 27-year-old Chinese citizen, Chen Zhiui, who lives in Sorakhutte, Kathmandu, on the charge of being involved in transporting the seized gold on Sunday.
Spokesperson of the office, Superintendent of Police Rabindra Regmi mentioned that Zhiui was arrested on charges of involvement in gold smuggling. Police on Thursday recovered two kilos of gold from the gearbox of the Scorpio vehicle numbered Bagmati Pradesh-01-028 Cha 2697.
Police arrested 28-year-old Gyalchiring Tamang, 26-year-old Biru Tamang and 19-year-old Sunil Bhujel of Rasuwa Gosainkund Rural Municipality, who were coming to Kathmandu with gold from Rasuwa. Spokesman Regmi said that the Chinese national was arrested based on the information of three people.
