Judge Tek Narayan Kunwar also slapped a fine of Rs 100,000 on Bir Bahadur Thing, a resident of Bharta VDC-9 in Chitwan. Thing was arrested by the police on the charge of raping the girl on August 22, 2012. The police had filed case against Thing on September 11, 2012 at the district court. [break]
Kaushal Gyawali, a record keeper at the district court, said the fine slapped on Thing will be provided to the victim as compensation.
The District Court of Makwanpur on Tuesday also handed jail terms to two men convicted of drug peddling. Sanjay Yadav (20), a resident of Bagahi VDC-6 in Bara district, was sentenced to 15 years in jail.
Yadav, who was arrested with 148 grams of brown heroin on April 11, 2011 in Ratamate of Makwanpur, was also slapped with a fine of Rs 700,000.
Similarly, Amin Miyan of Raxaul, India, was sentenced to 10 years in jail. Miyan was arrested with 80 grams of brown heroin on March 6, 2012.
