Chaudhary duo wins 200m golds

KATHMANDU, June 12: Sanju Chaudhary and Aman Chaudhary of Mid-western Region secured gold medals in girls´ and boys´ 200m sprint respectively on Wednesday during the First National School Sports Junior Championship being held in the capital. [break]



In course of claiming her second gold medal, Sanju clocked 27.6 seconds. Earlier on Tuesday, Sanju had won the 100m gold. Aman, who finished second in 100m on Tuesday, covered the distance in 24 seconds to take gold on Wednesday.



Sandhya Acharya of Central Region and Sabina Bhattarai of Western Region took second and third place honors in girls´ 200m. Similarly, Sunit Mahat of Central Region and Rahul Majhi of Eastern Region claimed silver and bronze medals in the boys´ event.



In boys´ 800m race, Ramjan Ali Salmai clocked 2 minutes 6.9 seconds for gold, finishing ahead of Aditya Shakya of Central Region and Sunil Singh of Eastern Region. In the same event under the girls´ section, Ramita Tharu of Central Region secured the top spot clocking 2 minutes 43.2 seconds. Saraswati Budha of Far-western Region and Sapana BK of Eastern Region finished second and third.



Sagar Budhathoki of Mid-western Region completed the boys´ 3,000m race in 10 minutes 16.4 seconds to secure gold finishing ahead of Sagar Budhathoki of Central Region and Rohit Adhikari of Western Region. The girls´ title went to Sangita Khadka of Central Region who clocked 11 minutes 38.7 seconds. Reshma Basnet of Mid-western Region and Kriti Sen of Western Region secured silver and bronze medals.



Mid-western Region, Central Region and Eastern Region secured the top three spots in the boys´ 4x400m relay. Likewise, Central Region, Mid-western Region and Eastern Region took the top honors in the girl´s relay.



Far-western Region wins boys´ kabaddi




Far-western Region secured gold in boys´ kabaddi played at the National Sports Council covered hall on Wednesday. Far-western defeated Eastern Region 87-50 in the final. Central Region took the bronze medal.



Eastern Region won gold in girls´ cricket while Western Region won the title in boys´ section. In the girls´ final Eastern Region defeated Western Region by 52 runs, while in the boys´ final Western Region overcame Eastern Region by 34 runs.
